2020

  1. Max out retirement funds:
    • IRA – $6,000 x 2 Accomplished!
    • 401k – $19,500 x 2
  2. Spend less than $50,000 for the year (our 1st full year as a family of 3)
  3. Weigh no more than 300 lbs combined
  4. Take Littles on her 1st camping trip Accomplished!
  5. Spend the summer not in Texas – Currently in progress
    • Backstory: I was 9 months pregnant last August, the peek of the summer heat in Texas. I made Mr. Doodlepop promise me we wouldn’t spend another summer in Texas. The promise has been kept!

2018, 2019 – on hiatus

2017

  1. Max out retirement funds:
    • IRA – $5,500 Accomplished!
    • 401k – $18,000 Accomplished!
  2. Spend less than $40,000 for the year (~$4k step down from last year) Accomplished with flying colors! Yearly expenses totaled $28,472.
  3. At least 2 blog posts per month –> Failed!
  4. Weigh no more than 300 lbs combined –> Failed! Currently 21 lbs over. Yikes!
  5. Explore 5 Texas State Parks 60% Accomplished!
    • Caprock Canyon
    • Palo Duro Canyon
    • Lost Maples

2016

  1. Max out retirement funds:
    • IRA – $5,500 Accomplished!
    • 401k – $18,000 Accomplished!
    • HSA – $3,350 Accomplished!
  2. Spend less than $50,000 for the year (~$10k step down from last year, challenge accepted!) Accomplished with flying colors! Total spend for the year: $44,158
  3. Pay off both our cars Accomplished!
  4. Update expenses monthly on the blog –> Failed! Working on it.
  5. Weigh no more than 300 lbs combined –> Failed! Currently 10 lbs over, yikes!
  6. Pass our professional exams:
    • Professional Engineering exam for Mrs. Dpop Accomplished!
    • CISSP & CCNA exams for Mr. Dpop Accomplished!
  7. Meditate 5 times per week 50% Accomplished
  8. Exercise for 7 minutes 5 times per week 50% Accomplished

2015

  1. Max out retirement funds:
    • IRA – $5,500 Accomplished!
    • 401k – $18,000 –> Failed, but so close! Mr Dpop made it, $1,770 short for Mrs. Dpop
    • HSA – $3,350  Accomplished!
  2. Ride bike to work once per week  –> Failed! After looking at the route, it is just too dangerous, too many highways. And then my bike got stolen…:(
  3. Start a blog Accomplished!
  4. Meditate every day  50% Accomplished
  5. Exercise for 10 minutes every morning  50% Accomplished
